William's Video Tribute from Carlyn Stuart on Vimeo.
I made this video montage for William. My goal was to chronicle his life and show a glimpse of the William that many people knew throughout the years. This was shown at William's Memorial on April 18th, 2009 in Santa Rosa, CA.

What a beautiful tribute Carly....missing William...thinking of you all...Good man, Good memories.....thank you for sharing this....
ReplyDeleteDear Carly
ReplyDeleteThat was terrific. Haze, as he was called in High School, was just the best. We played football and basketball together through High School. He sat behind me in Mr. Romeo's Sophomore Home Room (The stories I could tell you), we sat at the same lunchroom table for four years. We witnessed and experienced the same racism and hypocrisy and I would like to think that both of us never gave in to hate or bitterness. Our fathers were alike and possessed some qualities that both Haze and I had to learn how to deal with. I simply could talk to Haze and understand and be understood. I will always miss him.
I saw Billy's Video. It was a wonderful tribute to a remarkable man. I will always remember him with great love and affection. He had a good sense of humor too.
ReplyDeleteI got to know Prof. Hazelwood at San Francisco State University. A really great person, a beautiful soul. This is really shocking news, can't believe I didn't know until now.
ReplyDeleteI went to the senior prom with Bill Hazelwood in 1965. Although I never kept in contact with him, I thought of him and wonder how his life evolved. I'd known he had moved to SF in the 70's. Now the internet has brought me the sad news of his death untimely death. Carly's video shows that he had a beautiful life to match his beautiful personality.
ReplyDeleteI do remember he was an awful dancer, but he made up for it with his spirit. He was the center on the CHLS basketball team. I went to all of the games.
Thank you for this lovely tribute to a good man.
